An Intimate Leadership Gathering on Sustainability

Overview

Terras Tuscany is an invitation-only gathering that brings together senior leaders from business, finance, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy in an off-the-record setting designed to foster trust, reflection, and meaningful exchange.

Held annually in Tuscany, the gathering creates space for conversations that are often difficult to have in more formal conference environments. Participants come together not to present polished answers, but to explore emerging challenges, share experiences, and build relationships that continue well beyond the event.

Our Role

At the 2025 gathering, Mónica Altamirano moderated the session “Resilience in a Disrupted Market,” exploring what it takes to build durable strategies in a world increasingly shaped by climate volatility, economic uncertainty, and systemic disruption.

The discussion brought together perspectives from sustainability, finance, and business leadership, including representatives from Zurich Insurance and Carboneers, to examine how organizations can strengthen resilience while continuing to create long-term value.

Reflections

One of the strongest insights emerging from the dialogue was that the question is no longer simply how to price climate risk, but how to redesign institutions, governance systems, and financial structures for a future in which volatility becomes a permanent feature rather than an exception.

The gathering also reinforced the growing importance of systems thinking. Future leaders will increasingly need to understand the interconnections between environmental, social, financial, and economic systems and build bridges across sectors to navigate complexity and uncertainty.

Beyond the formal sessions, Terras demonstrated the value of creating trusted spaces where leaders can engage openly, challenge assumptions, and learn from one another. As important as the ideas themselves was the sense of community and collective purpose that emerged throughout the gathering.

Looking Ahead

The conversations at Terras reinforced a belief that meaningful transformation requires both ambitious visions and spaces where collective intelligence can emerge. These themes continue to inform ALTAMIRA’s work on regenerative finance, mission-driven investment planning, and the design of collaborative processes that move ideas into action.
