Bari Bootcamp | Apulia, Italy

Mission-Driven Investment Planning for Regeneration & NbS Week Italy

The Mission-Driven Investment Planning for Regeneration Bootcamp brings together public, private, academic, and civil society leaders to explore how territories can move from strategic ambitions to investable portfolios capable of accelerating the transition towards regenerative and nature-positive economies.

Convened by NetworkNature and ALTAMIRA Regenerative Finance, and hosted by the NbS Italy Hub, CNR-IRET and the University of Bari Aldo Moro, the programme forms part of NetworkNature’s European capacity-building strategy supported by the European Commission. The bootcamp is further supported by the IUCN European NbS Hub and the American Institute of Architects (AIA), reflecting the growing recognition that achieving climate resilience requires collaboration across sectors, disciplines, and institutions.

The Bari edition focuses on the opportunities and challenges facing Apulia and Southern Italy. Participants will explore how Nature-based Solutions and regenerative infrastructure can contribute to addressing water scarcity, climate vulnerability, coastal resilience, biodiversity loss, agricultural transition, and regional development. Particular emphasis will be placed on strengthening the institutional, financial, and partnership capacities needed to transform visions and strategies into implementable investment pathways.

The programme will bring together representatives from the European Commission, the President of the American Institute of Architects, local and regional governments, infrastructure operators, utilities, financial institutions, researchers, project developers, and regional leaders. By creating a space where these actors can engage as peers, the bootcamp seeks to foster collaboration, build trust, and identify opportunities for collective action.

What makes the bootcamp distinctive is that it is not a traditional conference. Rather than focusing on presentations alone, participants work together through facilitated exercises, systems mapping, collective intelligence processes, and investment origination labs. The objective is to help participants rethink how investments are planned, financed, and implemented, while identifying opportunities to develop transformative portfolios that deliver environmental, social, and economic value.

At its core, the bootcamp seeks to help activate a local impact ecosystem for regeneration. By bringing together diverse actors around shared missions and regional priorities, it aims to strengthen the foundations for long-term collaboration and support the development of investable projects capable of contributing to a resilient and prosperous future for Apulia and Southern Italy.

In particular, we aim to involve representatives from local municipalities, regional authorities, the private sector, civil society, and the investment community, with a preference for organizations active in Apulia and Southern Italy.

Within the public sector, we are especially interested in welcoming:

  • Directors and officers responsible for urban planning, environmental management, resilience, or green infrastructure;
  • Local and regional policymakers (e.g. assessors, councillors, and elected officials);
  • Professionals involved in public investment planning, spatial planning, infrastructure development, and the financial management of municipal or regional funds.

We also encourage applications from:

  • Infrastructure operators and utilities;
  • Project developers working on climate resilience, water, energy, mobility, nature-based solutions, or sustainable infrastructure;
  • Impact investors and financial institutions interested in regenerative and place-based investments;
  • B Corps and private-sector leaders advancing sustainability, circular economy, regeneration, or climate adaptation initiatives;
  • Innovation hubs, and organizations supporting territorial transformation and regional development.

If you are working to advance climate resilience, nature-positive development, regenerative infrastructure, or sustainable investment in Apulia region and nearby, we encourage you to apply to the bootcamp through the link below.
