Mónica is the Founder of Altamira Regenerative Finance, a boutique advisory advancing mission-driven investment planning grounded in regenerative design principles. She operates across the full investment lifecycle—from foresight and origination to pipeline development, financing, and capacity building—to help close the persistent gap between ambition and implementation.

She serves as an Independent Director and board member, contributing strategic oversight on sustainability, climate risk, and long-term value creation, and advising executive teams on navigating complex transitions in infrastructure, water, and agro-industrial systems.Her career spans leadership roles at the Nicaraguan Ministry of Education, WaterEquity and Deltares, as well as advisory work for institutions including the Green Climate Fund, European Investment Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and IFAD. She has pioneered approaches such as the Financing Framework for Water Security, now applied in multiple countries, and has catalysed coalitions mobilizing multi-billion-dollar investment portfolios. Mónica is recognized for her ability to bridge disciplines, sectors, and stakeholders, bringing together public, private, and community actors to design coherent investment systems. Her work is grounded in a clear mission: to enable investments that operate within planetary boundaries while strengthening resilience, equity, and long-term system value.
